What a year it’s been. Is it me, or has this year gone faster than any year before it? Maybe it’s gone quickly because so much has happened. Some of it good, some of it bad, some of it great, some of it sad, but all of it has made me that much tougher and wiser, and for that I am thankful. Some of the other things I am thankful for right now:
• My sister: She may not even comprehend all the love I have for her. She has worked with every fiber of her being to be supportive of me since we were little. She now works with the Foundation and helps with all the wonderful things we are doing. I am thankful for everything she does for me and my young children. I certainly could not have gotten past my April 15th, 2012 diagnosis without her.
• My children: My silver linings, every day, all day. They keep my heart beating and my smile shining. They continue to amaze me all the time and their accomplishments make me beam with pride. I hope for them to dream big and grow up to be whatever they aspire to be, always knowing that they are loved and supported.
• My friends: The very special friends I have, old and new, that spend hours on the phone with me discussing life’s trials and tribulations. I am sure I am repetitive, but they are too polite to ever let me know. The conversations over coffees and dinners, the small gestures of kindness, the laughter – it’s all priceless to me. I am so lucky to have their support and friendship.
I have much to be thankful for, but I can’t say I’m sad to see 2013 end. It wasn’t the best one for my memory books, but it did teach me a lot and keep me on my toes.
For 2014, I hope and pray for more patience and feeling in my extremities, but I’ll take what I can get. ☺
What are you thankful for at the end of 2013?
