Our No Resolutions Solution…

We're making a promise to live life well, always

2014 resolutions written on a chalkboardWe’re not really big on New Year’s resolutions around here. We’re more of the “work on ourselves all year” types. It’s been proven we’re likely to fail at resolutions anyway! That said, it’s hard to not think of January as an opportunity for a fresh start, or a time to refine our “work on ourselves all year” goals, try something new, or take on a new outlook.

So, as a kick-off to our belief in bettering ourselves all year, we asked our good friend Lynn, acupuncturist, health coach, and all-around lovely person, to give us a list of her best tips for living well. Her company’s tagline is, after all, “Life Lived Well.” She got back to us within a few hours with a long list of wonderful tips, tricks, and words of wisdom that we plan to use as motivation to be our best selves and live life well.

We’ve listed a few of our favorites below, and we’ll be sharing the rest on our FacebookTwitter, and Instagram (@mshope_, #LifeLivedWell). Be sure to follow us for inspiration during this month of self-improvement resolutions, and join us in saying resolutions, schmesolutions — it’s time to promise ourselves we’ll try to live life well, always.

  • Remember it is your body. Listen to it speak to you. Trust how you feel and what you know to be true for you.
  • Be curious: be willing to learn; be willing to say you do not know.
  • Not every call or text or email must be immediately returned. Spend time with the people in front of you — or enjoy peace and quiet. Stop looking at your phone at dinner. Not everything needs to be photographed.
  • Let go of the low-fat dogma. Our bodies need good fat! Explore avocado, coconut oil, olive oil, ghee…

Best wishes for a beautiful 2014 — here’s hoping it’s the year of the cure!

How do you feel about New Year’s Resolutions? Do you make them, or do you do the “improvements all year” kind of thing? We’d love to know your thoughts on this!
